Overview
A Mechanical toy also known as Automata, uses hand-powered mechanisms to create cyclical motions that animate a scene. Participants design and create toy machines with moving characters that symbolize abstract concepts and represent dynamic situations.
Building automata toy is a good example of integrating science and art with an activity. For learners, the narrative and decorative aspects are as important as the mechanical elements.

Course will walk you through the process of translating your idea into working automata toy - one step at a time. You will learn a 'vocabulary' of mechanisms used in toys, tips and short cuts. At the end of each session homework will be set, to be presented in the following session.
Conducted in hybrid mode, interactions will be online while Activity kit will be shipped to the participants of the course.
The online automata course is flexible to fit with your schedule . What you want to build and timings can be discussed to suit your needs.
There are a many projects for all levels of experience and skill - Automata toy can be driven by hand or you can use motor for the same.

Mode
With focus on one-on-one interaction, this workshop will be conducted in hybrid mode. There will be 5 online sessions conducted over Google Meet/Zoom. Activity kit for the workshop will be shipped to the participant after the first session. Price of the kit is included in the total fees.

Preferable participation is one-to-one but group participation is also welcome.

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts.
What is the course duration ?
Course will be conducted in 8 one hour sessions. Session will take place once a week.
Do I get any material for the course ?
All contents used during the session will be available online. Activity kit will be shipped to the participant after the first session. Cost of the activity kit is included in the course fee.

Eight online sessions and Automata activity kit is included in the price.
What material participants will use ?
Almost anything around the house can be used to build automata toys. Paper, corrugated sheets, boxes, sticks, pencils, colors are the common things used by participants. List of tools required will be provided during the session.
